VOLUNTEER BADGES

Did your dog eat your badge?  Did the laminator melt it?  Are you new to Findley?  If you are a new volunteer or you need a new badge and your photo was taken during the 2010-2011 school year, please come get your photo taken during one of these times:

Thank you!

The Science Fair Cometh

Dear Parents,
The Science Fair Cometh. It is March 8th, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Over 400 Findley students participate every year. Here is some quick information about the Science Fair.

  • The goal is for the student to complete an experiment so they become familiar with the scientific method and learn something new.
  • This is a student-led project; not a competition with the neighbor guy down the block.
  • There are no ‘winners’ at the fair. However, five fifth graders will be chosen to display their projects at the district-wide Science Fair Thursday, May 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on the Beaverton Tektronix campus.
  • Each child will display their projects at the fair and be reviewed which means a well meaning parent (yes, this means you will be asked to participate) will ask them about their project and ask pertinent questions.
  • Third graders are required to do a science project (don’t worry it is not that bad).
  • We will, again, have parent exhibitors so if you work with any kind of science please think about sharing it with the kids. Let’s inspire them. They can’t all be video game professionals.
  • I have attached the 2012 Findley Science Fair Experiment Registration Packet for your convenience (and will post it on the PTO website) if your student wishes to start the project over the holiday break. Please follow the guidelines. The Registration Form does not have to be on green paper.
  • The same printed Experiment Registration Packets will be available in the office January 12th. A green, half-sheet notice will be sent home with the students to let them know they are available. Registration packets will only be delivered to the 3rd grade classrooms.
